Jak has developed a reputation for innovative annual holiday gifts that leverage the studio's versatile name. Pulling of the theme of "AppleJak" required a little help from colleagues and friends, who shared their favorite places in New York City. Jakdesign's resulting guide to the Big Apple was a pocket-sized brochure with 75 "insider favorites" listed by category, as well as a map depicting where to find them.
The response to the uniquely branded utility was so overwhelming, that Jak produced a second version a few years later as "The New Yorker's Guide to New York City" that some of Jak's clients gave to their customers as holiday gifts.
